One of the most romantic nights of the year couples spend together is New Year's Eve. Couples love to get dressed up in their best, often new clothes to head out for a celebration with friends and/or family. Instead of going out for New Year's Eve this year, tell your spouse that you want to celebrate the beginning of another year together alone at home. Stay home, be comfortable, buy champagne, light the fire, turn on some soft music and snuggle up with your spouse the entire evening. It will be one of the most memorable New Year's Eves you'll have and don't be surprised if it becomes your new yearly tradition!

Another holiday dedicated to love and romance is definitely Valentine's Day. While most spouses go with the traditional chocolates and roses, you aren't going to this year. Be creative and think about what he or she truly loves. If it's flowers, buy an assortment of flowers that begin with the first letter of his or her name. If he or she loves books, choose authors according to a similarly personal theme.

Aside from special occasions throughout the year, you have the opportunity to be romantic each and every day. For example, if you are lucky enough to be able to sit down for any meal of the day together don't turn on the television or pick up the newspaper to read. Ask him or her how their day was, what they are planning to do or make plans to spend the upcoming weekend together. You can also use this discussion time to listen to your partner and begin offering compromises instead of simply arguing. You will find that he or she will be much more responsive and likely to give in a little to what you want as well!

Making love together can be a wonderfully fulfilling experience. It can be even more so when you add romantic gestures to your love making. Most couples decide to make love right before going to sleep at night. Instead of 'just doing it', take the time to offer your partner more stimulation for foreplay. He or she will not refuse! Try new things and listen to your partner for feedback. His or her responses may not be in words, but you will be able to tell what is working and what's not working. Take your time. Both of you will enjoy the rewards by slow, considerate and thorough lovemaking.
