Journal of Marriage and Family is published five times each year, in February, May, August, November, and December. The average issue has over 250 pages. It boasts a circulation of more than 6,200, with readers around the world.
Within the pages of Journal of Marriage and Family, readers can find original research, interpretation and reviews, theoretical pieces, critical discussions, and book reviews on relevant topics. While the word "marriage" is in the journal's title, it also includes articles concerning other close relationships outside of the
commitment of marriage.

The publication will consider research based on quantitative or qualitative methods, or multi-method approaches. Competition can be tough, with only about 15% of all submissions being published. Even accepted manuscripts typically require revision. However, it is a distinguished publishing credit for researchers looking to make a name for themselves in the family field.
